Installer Description

Installer is a relatively straightforward tool that can be used to install applications that do not offer dedicated setup utilities. It copies all the items from a particular folder to another location, and also generates two new files that store the application’s name and version.

It does not save any information about these installations, however, so it can be rather difficult to keep track of them.

Transfer files and enter the application’s name and version

It should be noted that this utility does not install any software in the classic sense, as it only copies the selected files and creates two documents in the target folder that let you know what the application’s name and version is.

Installer can be useful if you want to move a portable application to a specific location on your hard drive, and the utility also allows you to uninstall it.

Simple application that lacks some important functions

While this program may be beneficial in certain situations, it needs more features become it can become a truly useful tool.

For instance, no information is stored about the installed applications, so you have to locate them manually whenever you want to remove them.

The generated .appinfo files are used by this utility to determine whether or not the applications have been uninstalled, and they can be opened in a standard text processor. However, the program does not remember their locations, and there is no easy way to manage your installed programs.

Basic utility that does not have too many uses

On the whole, we cannot think of many scenarios when Installer would be useful, as portable applications can already be moved quite easily without this tool’s help, and it does not offer any other important features.

The program might have been useful if it stored information about all your installations and allowed you to manage them from a single interface, but that is, sadly, not the case.
