InboxLock Description

Most spam filters are based on collective data obtained from numerous mail users and, while convenient, spammers can find ways to get around these protection services.

InboxLock is a nifty program that offers an interesting alternative, as it allows you to set up a unique spam filter that blocks or allows e-mails based on your past actions. It can be very useful in the right hands, but it is not particularly intuitive, and it features a disappointing graphical user interface.

Connect multiple e-mail accounts and manage your inboxes

The first step, of course, is to link your e-mail accounts with InboxLock. The process is very straightforward and can usually be completed in a few seconds.

You can connect to multiple accounts at once, and then remove the ones you no longer wish to manage at any time.

Sort the good from the bad and set up a personalized algorithm

Once you have accessed your accounts, the application will display the e-mails in your inbox one by one, and you need to decide whether messages from a certain sender should be allowed or blocked in the future. It is also possible to delete a single e-mail but permit future messages from that particular sender.

The program displays each e-mail’s potential risk, and you can change the alert level by clicking one of the five buttons to the left of the browser panel.

Features an unpolished interface and is rather difficult to use

Appearance-wise, the application needs a lot of improvements. The UI is far from impressive, and some of the visual elements look out of place.

Also, the navigation system is somewhat ungainly, as you cannot view a complete list of all the e-mails you have received, and it is not possible to move backward, should you wish to access messages that have been skipped.

All in all, InboxLock is a promising utility that can help you keep spam at bay, and it offers a reliable alternative to classic spam filters. However, it could still be improved in many respects, especially when it comes to the user interface and browsing system.
