IE-Split Description

Web browsers have greatly evolved throughout the years, gradually introducing new features for more flexibility, and greater comfort. Windows also provides a default web browser to use, starting with Internet Explorer. If it’s still your preferred method of going online, IE-Split can help you navigate on more pages at a time.

Integrates into Internet Explorer

Needless to say that Internet Explorer must be a part of Windows. However, this can only be the case with iterations below Windows 10, since Microsoft Edge took over from there. Moreover, the application relies on .NET Framework as well, so you need to make sure it is installed on your system too.

The new Internet Explorer configuration is ready to use right after setup is done. No system restart is required, and the next time you launch the target browser, you notice the core feature into effect. This is identifiable by the vertical delimiter which splits the navigation area in half, allowing you to stay on two pages at a time, per tab.

Two sections for each tab

This comes in handy if you don’t want to use two separate instances to keep your eyes on two types of content. The delimiter can be dragged around to configure each navigation section, with the possibility to even close the additional one. Every new tab or instance is now split in half, and closing one section only applies to the active tab.

However, navigation can feel a little tricky, and this is because the second navigation section is not fitted with it’s own address field. Accessing a web page through normal means changes the default tab. Adding a page in the second tab needs to be done by dragging the URL address over the target section, which can become frustrating.

To sum it up

Taking everything into consideration, IE-Split provides a comfortable extension to Internet Explorer, making multiple pages visible at the same time, in the same tab. Although Internet Explorer’s days are numbered, and landing on a second page in the same section is rather tricky, it deserves a try overall.
