Fora Dictionary Pro Description

Fora Dictionary Pro provides instant access to several dictionaries, enabling you to lookup word explanations in multiple databases. Its purpose is to create a complete offline dictionary that can serve all users, even if their computer is not connected to the Internet.

Create your own offline dictionary

It’s worth noting that Fora Dictionary Pro requires Internet access to download online dictionary databases, but it also enables you to import locally stored dictionaries in various formats, such as StarDict, DSL, DICTD, TSV or XDXF.

The application enables you to create one or more profiles to work with, assigning different dictionary databases to each. As such, every user of Fora Dictionary Pro can create a separate profile, only containing the databases they need.

Clipboard lookups and manual searches

Thanks to the intuitive interface, working with the application is pretty easy. All the downloaded dictionaries are shown within the main window, enabling you to disable or delete the ones you don’t use. To lookup a word, you just have to enter it in the designated search box. Fora Dictionary Pro searches all the available databases and displays the results it finds.

The application features lookup suggestions and is diacritics tolerant. You can perform wildcard, fuzzy, full-text and phonetic manual searches, but Fora Dictionary Pro can also be instructed to monitor your clipboard and automatically lookup its content. Results are stored in the ‘History’ area, but they can also be bookmarked.

More than a simple dictionary

Fora Dictionary Pro bypasses the dictionary status to become a reliable learning utility, providing in-page pop-up explanations, a vocabulary exerciser and a text-to-speech tool. Its straightforward approach and the rich feature set makes it a good alternative to online dictionary databases.
