Folder Merger Description

The complexity of a file management task only depends on the target files, and where they need to end up. Chances are you simply need a bunch of files from all over your computer to end up in a single directory, which can take some time to navigate and copy from multiple locations. In this regard, Folder Merger wants to save you the time and easily perform this operation.

Target all files in an entire folder structure

Note that the application skips you the whole effort required to go through a setup process and can be run right after download. Although the interface is pretty organized, it can take a bit of time to figure out how files need to be targeted, and how to move them to the specified location.

The catch to a successful operation is for all files you want to move to be located in different subfolders of the root directory you select as main target. All these subfolders are enlisted in one panel, letting you decide whether you want to copy files from all of them, or only specific items. Unfortunately, there’s no preview for selected folders, so you need to keep File Explorer close by for analysis.

Apply filters to only copy files of interest

Once you select the target folders from the root section, adding them to the process list shows all files inside. Everything displayed in the file list is copied to the target folder which needs to be empty for everything to work. Luckily, you can narrow down the list of elements to copy either by filtering by name, or file extension.

The process doesn’t start until you say so. This gives you some time to specify whether to merge files from lower levels into higher ones, with a value field to specify target levels, and to rename or enumerate files with duplicate names so you don’t lose any files in the process. Copying is done pretty fast, with the destination folder brought up when done.

On an ending note

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Folder Merger is an efficient solution to extract files from different locations and place them into a single folder where they’re easier to handle. Although it can be a little tricky to get used to, setting up filters and selecting work folders is an easy task for individuals of all levels of experience.
