Filename Lister Description
Whether you’re preparing to reinstall the operating system or just to rearrange your personal files, the first step you have to take is building an index of all files and folders available on your system, in order to decide which ones to keep and which to disregard.
Filename Lister is a very basic application that can do this. It gives you the possibility to choose any drive or directory in order to list all containing files, folders or both. There are also two exporting options available, in case you want to not just view the listed items but also save this information to file.
Quickly list filenames from any drive or directory
Following a fast and speedy setup operation that shouldn’t give you any trouble, you’re welcomed by a simple window with a plain and simple structure, where you can get started by choosing a drive or directory to scan.
By default, Filename Lister generates a list of all containing files and folders and shows them in this window, namely their full path, filesize and type (file or folder). Alternatively, you can filter results to view only files or folders. The task doesn’t take long, after which you can export the shown information to TXT or CSV format.
Modest filename lister with little to offer
Unfortunately, there are no other options provided by the software application. Furthermore, it’s necessary to purchase a license in order to be able to export information to file.
Lists were produced quickly in our tests while the utility, unsurprisingly, remained light on system resources. It worked without error on Windows 10. On the other hand, Filename Lister has only the basic and necessary options for listing filenames, especially when taking into account that there are many other similar programs out there offering the same functionality for free.
