ext2read (ext2explore) Description

As its name suggests, Ext2explore is designed to provide you with an Explorer-like application for browsing EXT2, EXT3 or EXT4 partitions, which are file systems specific to the Linux operating system.

Intuitive working environment

The application is designed with simplicity in mind, allowing you to work with Linux native file systems in Windows.

The interface is simple and clean, only comprising two separate panes for file browsing and a few options in the ‘Tools’ menu that you can access much easier using the toolbar.

Simple steps to follow

The first thing you need to do is connect your hard disk with ExtFS partitions to your PC and open a new file system image or disk (for instance, it can access the root.disk file). The software tool provides support for external USB disks and its LRU based Block cache is designed to ensure fast access to files.

Read and modify files on the Linux EXT partition

Ext2explore displays the content of the partitions in its main window, allowing you to read and modify files on the Linux EXT partition, without having to install any other third-party application or driver.

Extra features to tinker with

Several options are available: you can create new files and folders and use basic editing tools to manage files. Cut, copy, paste, rename or delete files on the EXT2, EXT3 or EXT4 partition and then press the ‘Save’ button to record your changes. Furthermore, you can use it to recursively copy an entire folder.

Ext2explore comes with support for Linux LVM2 and allows you to browse large EXT4 files. Also, it provides Unicode support, thus it can read files written using any character set.

Bottom line

Ext2explore provides fast, secure and transparent access to alternative Linux file systems, enabling you to extract and edit data easily.
