EasyTAG Description

EasyTAG software application whose purpose is to aid individuals in viewing, editing and saving audio tags, with pretty impressive import capabilities.

Well-organized, yet not very intuitive GUI

Once you are finalized with the simple installation process, you come face to face with a well-structured interface. It encompasses a menu bar, several buttons, a folder structure, a pane to view containing items and another one which displays the audio tags. It takes a little bit of getting used to the interface, which leads us to believe that beginners might have a few difficulties when trying to find their way around it.

Supported extensions and information you can append

This tool supports a pretty long list of formats, including APE, FLA, M4A, MP4, OGG, MP3 and FLAC. Regardless of the extension selected, EasyTAG enables you to view information pertaining to it, such as bit rate, frequency, size, number of channels and duration.

In addition to that, you can customize tags like title, artist, album, year, genre and number of track, while you can also view logs in a small panel and clear them with just a click of the button. A search function is available, you can generate an M3U playlist and open tracks using your default audio or media player.

Performance and conclusions

The CPU and memory usage is low at all times, regardless of the process under way and therefore, does not hinder the computer’s performance and you can run it alongside other programs, without encountering any kind of problems. Furthermore, all tasks are performed in a timely manner and we did not observe any errors or crashes in Softpedia tests. Nonetheless, the UI could use some more work.

All in all, EasyTAG proves to be a pretty handy piece of software, for those interested in modifying the tags from their songs.
