Dual Writer Description
Dual Writer aims to change the way you write your documents, with the final purpose of increasing work efficiency and productivity. It integrates a powerful speech recognition engine that helps you dictate text and give certain commands to the application.
Dual Writer can also be used as a standard text processor, but what sets it apart from other similar utilities is the possibility to use voice command for typing the text. Therefore, Dual Writer can act as your own, personal assistant, gathering all the ideas and writing them down on paper.
The speech recognition section allows you to adjust the dictation accuracy and have the text read out loud. Provided the computer is equipped with a microphone, you can use it to give instructions to the application using your voice.
Unfortunately, its capabilities are limited to typing characters and not whole words. Nevertheless, you can control clipboard entries (cut, copy and paste commands), undo and redo an action, navigate through the document using the ‘Page up’ and the ‘Page down’ keys, save, open or create a document, as well as instruct the application to format characters and paragraphs, select and remove certain sections, correct words using spell checking, scroll up and down and so on.
The overall appearance of the interface is no different than that of any similar utility we’ve seen so far. It comprises the basic options for text formatting, such as customizing the font and the text style, modifying the case, changing the alignment, line spacing and other paragraph parameters, modifying colors, adding bullets, customizing the page layout and so on.
Your document can include locally stored images, tables of various dimensions, text boxes and hyperlinks. The bookmarking tool, along with the ‘Search’ function and the table of contents help you quickly navigate through the text.
