DTCP Description

It is true that most of us spend most of the time tweeting directly from our mobile devices, but there are certain times when a computer might turn out to be a faster and better option.

DTCP, short from Desktop Twitter Client Project, is a simplistic, lightweight and cross-platform app that enables you to write and read tweets directly from the comfort of your computer.

Straightforward login process

As you can imagine, DTCP requires that you log in using your Twitter credentials. As with the large majority of Twitter clients out there, upon first logging in, you need to undergo a simple authorization process.

In a few words, a webpage will be opened on your default web-browser and you will need to enter your Twitter username and password in order to receive a PIN code. The code must then be entered within DTCP’s main window and that is about it.

Unassuming Twitter client that does its job right

While it is certainly not a very stylish, or modern-looking for that matter, piece of software, DTCP runs smooth and feels like a well-thought out app even from the first time you interact with it. As mentioned before, the interface is more geared towards functionality rather than looks, but all the functions work as expected. The menus are very responsive and the transitions between them are both fast and smooth.

Getting to know your way around this app is a very straightforward process: from the little toolbar, you can toggle between the Twitter news feed menu, your private messages and the user accounts section. While it’s bare-bones simplicity might be the defying factor for some, other users might desire something more from a Twitter client.

A run-of-the-mill Twitter client for your computer’s desktop

This said, the DTCP does not come with support for functions like Windows-badge notifications, translations, UI themes, URL shortening, inline media preview or news feed customizations.

To conclude, if you are looking for an efficient Twitter client for your computer and simplicity is what you are after, then you should give DTCP a quick spin.
