Responsive and user-friendly interface, but not without problems
While not impressive in any way, DSPlayer’s main window is clearly organized and follows the same layout as the large majority of apps found on the market today. Following the same recipe when it comes to layout as other similar apps, DSPlayer is easy to use and suitable for a vast majority of users out there.
But, while its interface is quite responsive, we have found some major glitches and issues during our tests. The problems in question arose when we tried to move the video player’s window from one place to another.
During our test, the mouse cursor glitched around and the window at hand followed strange movement patterns. While a conclusion is hard to come by, this might only affect users with computers running the latest versions of Windows.
Comes with all the expected features from an app of this sort
Besides supporting most popular audio and video formats, DSPlayer also comes with support for multiple audio streams, chapters, playlists and DirectShow Filters. In addition, it supports multiple play speeds, a fully skinnable interface, fast forward and fast rewind options, an audio crossfader, a 10-band equalizer and a radio stream ripper.
Furthermore, the app makes it possible for you to assign key shortcuts to almost every action. In addition, the utility offers you the possibility to playback DVDs from your computer and to override Audio Output to any supported sound devices.
A good media player, but does not really manage to stand out from the crowd
While for a medium-sized media player there is nothing missing in the case of DSPlayer, it is quite clear that this app does not really innovate in any way, but simply follows a well tested recipe.
This is not a very bad thing, but do not expect from this app more than a simple media player, with all the basic functions of a media player.
