Open Video Converter is a simple-to-use tool designed to help you turn video files into WMV, ASF, AVI and MKV. It can be easily used, even by less experienced individuals.
The interface of the program is uncomplicated and easy to work with. Video clips can be imported via the file browser only, since the “drag and drop” method is unsupported. Processing multiple items in batch mode is not possible.
So, you can preview clips in a built-in media player, specify the output destination and file type, and proceed with the encoding operation with the default settings.
Experienced users can fiddle with the audio and video properties when it comes to the resolution, frame rate, resize mode and compressor. These settings can be restored to their standard values. Plus, you can trim clips by marking the start and end position.
The video processing program needs a low amount of CPU and system memory, in order to finish a task briefly. It has a good response time, includes user documentation and outputs video clips with a fair image and sound quality. No error dialogs have been displayed throughout our testing and Open Video Converter did not freeze or crash.
On the downside, you cannot select the number of CPU cores to be used, as well as set Open Video Converter to open the output directory or to turn off the computer automatically after encoding. The tool has not received updates for a very long time.
