Depeche View Lite Description
This is the light edition of Depeche View, an approachable software application that lets you open files of various types and analyze their content. It offers support for PDF, TXT, PHP and HTML file extensions, among others.
No installation needed
This is a portable program, so there is no setup involved. You can save the app files anywhere on the disk or a removable storage unit and just click the executable to launch Depeche View on any PC effortlessly. It doesn’t make any modifications to the Windows registry.
Simple interface with many options
The user-friendly GUI is represented by a large window with a simplistic appearance, where you can open multiple files at a time by indicating a directory.
Depeche View lets you conduct global search operations across multiple files simultaneously, fly over all text in the current window or in two windows at once, clone the current window, highlight words, set bookmarks, as well as import and export bookmarks to the Clipboard.
What’s more, you can clip group matches, append additional files to the current ones, as the tool to find nearby unique line matches, disable assistance mode, allow text overlapping bookmarks, modify the default location of Depeche View’s configuration file, deactivate auto-filtering mode for search operations, and so on.
Evaluation and conclusion
No error dialogs popped up in our tests, and the software application didn’t freeze or crash. Its impact on the overall performance of the PC was minimal, since it needed low CPU and RAM to work properly.
On the other hand, Depeche View’s options are not intuitive, so you will likely take a while to figure out what everything does. Nevertheless, you can test the app for yourself, since it’s free.
