Dbvisit Replicate Description

Dbvisit Replicate is a complex and reliable software utility designed to offer users the means of duplicating their Oracle database, enabling them to use the copy for other purposes, such as reporting, in order to prevent the added load from the online version.

Other reasons for creating copies of a database consist of migration needs, particularly to different types of DBs, such as MySQL or SQL Server, both of which are supported as target databases by Dbvisit Replicate. For source database editions and versions, Oracle Enterprise and Standard, from 9.2 to 12c can be handled by the software.

In terms of duplication modes, Dbvisit Replicate can perform 1-way (master to slave) as well as 2-way (master to master) operations. Moreover, the network transfer parameters are configured automatically, both for WAN and LAN networks, also ensuring encryption and security on the network.

Working with Dbvisit Replicate itself is done in command line, as the program features a CMD console in the form of a wizard, where a series of steps need to be followed precisely, to achieve the expected result, for instance accepting the license, providing basic information about the database (name, location of the directory containing the TNS configuration scripts, and others).

However, these are fairly self-explanatory, and people with basic knowledge of working with Oracle databases will have little trouble in handling it.

What is notable about Dbvisit Replicate is that fact that it will cause almost no downtime for the database, meaning end-users will experience no problem in accessing the data they need. It makes it well suited for situations where managed hosting or cloud environments are used.
