DataCD is a very lightweight piece of software that allows you to create disc labels and print them effortlessly.
The interface is nothing special, just a bunch of panels that provide access to the built-in templates and the rest of the options.
You can choose between standard CD and DVD labels, slim CD front covers, pocket slim CD covers, sleeves and others. A label style panel is also available to provide a quick preview of the selected template.
There are dedicated fields placed in the main window in order to input the title, spine and body information, while separate options give you the option to scan a specific disc for this kind of details and select an extra spine.
There are no other configuration screens and the created label can be printed straight from the main window, of course, using the standard Windows printer settings.
DataCD works flawlessly regardless of the Windows version running on your system and it doesn’t require administrator privileges. A help manual is also included in the package, but you are required to open it manually from the program’s folder.
All things considered, DataCD is a helpful product that requires only minimum computer skills and creates basic disc labels. It doesn’t assault users with unnecessary options, but it also lacks several essential tools that could improve the final look of the label.
The good thing however is that it can be used by all user categories, but it’s pretty obvious that plenty of updates are still needed in the near future.
