CredentialsFileView Description

For your convenience, the Windows operating system remembers various login information and stores it inside its Credentials files. As its name suggests, CredentialsFileView is a software utility that can be used for accessing the Credentials files and explore their content.

Extract data from local or external Credentials files

Upon launch, CredentialsFileView displays a window that contains the paths to all the Credentials folders for the logged on user, which are automatically detected. However, the decryption process cannot be carried out without you entering the Windows login password. In other words, you must give permission to CredentialsFileView to access the Credentials files.

Decrypting the content of Credentials files located on an external drive is also possible with CredentialsFileView, but you must enter the location of the files manually. To make this task easier, the application enables you to enter the path of the root folder on the external storage device and let it automatically fill all the required fields.

Check out details about all the stored credentials

Credentials files store various data types, such as Windows Live session logs, Remote Desktop login information, passwords for Internet Explorer 7.x and 8.x, MSN or Windows Messenger, login passwords and usernames of remote computers in the same LAN, or Outlook-stored passwords for Exchange Server. Therefore, this is the type of information you should expect to view in the main window of CredentialsFileView.

Aside from the filename and its location, CredentialsFileView displays the file version, the size of the decrypted data, its timestamp (creation and last modification time and date), the type of entry (domain password, certificate, generic, domain extended, NET passport), usernames and passwords, and more.

View and export the content of Credentials files

CredentialsFileView is a handy tool for system and network administrators who want to explore the contents of the Credentials files of their operating system. The data is structured, the table is organized and easy to sort, entries are simple to handle and select, and the information can be exported to various formats, including text, CSV, and HTML.
