Cover Retriever is a small-sized and portable software utility that automatically finds cover art for MP3 audio tracks online and downloads it.
It sports an intuitive set of options that can be configured with ease by all types of users, regardless of their previous experience with software applications.
Portable application
As there is no setup pack involved, you can put the program files in any part of the hard disk and just click the executable to run.
Alternatively, you can save Cover Retriever to a USB flash disk or other kind of mass storage device, to be able to run it on any PC with .NET Framework installed.
Worth mentioning is that the Windows registry does not get updated with new entries, and no extra files are created on the disk without the user’s consent, leaving it clean after removal.
Attractive and intuitive GUI
The interface is modern and appealing to all user levels, considering that it is easy to work with too. At startup you are required to specify a folder whose MP3 tracks you want to take into account for detecting art work online.
Automatically finds cover art
A list of these files is loaded on the left side of the panel. Selecting one triggers the app to immediately find its corresponding cover picture. If more samples are found, you can view their width and height on the bottom part of the screen. In addition, you can edit tags when it comes to title, artist, album and year.
To apply a particular image, it is suffice to select it and click the “Save” button. Plus, you can embed it in the file. There are no other notable options available here.
CPU and RAM consumption is low during Cover Retriever’s runtime. The attractiveness level of the UI is doubled by smooth transitions when navigating cover images. Changes are immediately applied to the MP3 files. We have not come across any problems in our tests.
