COM port monitoring Description

COM ports were introduced with Windows 2000 as a type of serial ports that enable you to communicate with compatible devices via a user interface. Considering that USB ports can perform the same tasks, most modern computers lack this feature nowadays.

If you are involved in projects that entail managing and communicating with COM port devices, then the USB ports cannot help you too much. One solution would be to plug in the USB to a serial adapter into the dedicated port and configure it to act as a COM port. Then again, you should know that there is a chance that the equipment you are trying to connect may not recognize the connection and hence, you cannot read or send data in this manner.

As it is implied by its name, COM port monitoring is an application that enables you to read and send data via COM ports. The program comes with a simple interface designed as a spreadsheet that allows you preview the ports that send and receive data to your computer.

You should know that you can split the data into user defined columns using user defined characters. Moreover, in the eventuality that the program received data continuously every second, then you can set up intervals for writing the data into the database.

Last, but not least important,  COM port monitoring enables you to automatically store the data or export it to Excel, so you can using it for future references or other projects.
