BotFence Description

Global connectivity and communication over the Internet also resulted in the rise of the number of online threats and data stealing attempts. Running a server means that data security is mandatory, and there are several ways to make sure your files are not accessed without authorization. BotFence is one of the applications that can monitor your server for hacking attacks, automatically blocking attempts to break your passwords.

Automatically block IPs with multiple failed logins

Running BotFence reveals its Administrator window, which gathers information about the BotFence service and its actions, as well the number of blocked IP addresses and attacks. Note that you must go through the configuration process for the scan to begin.

BotFence enables you to define the number of failed logins in the last hour or the last day needed for an IP address to be automatically banned. You are also protected against botnets that try different commonly-used passwords to hack into your server.

Protect Windows, SQL Server, Exchange/SMTP and FTP servers

BotFence can serve as a protection shield against hacking attempts in Windows, SQL Server connections, Exchange/SMTP and FTP servers. The Windows event log and the application logs are also thoroughly analyzed, so as to find authentication fails that might betray an attack.

Of course, exceptions can be configured. For the accounts and IP address ranges listed in the whitelist, BotFence will not block the corresponding connection attempts.

Additional options enable you to set the size of the event log that is saved locally and the number of days after which the logs are deleted. BotFence also features email notifications for each IP that is blocked, but you can also configure it to send a daily or a weekly summary report of its activity.

Detect authentication fails and block IPs on the spot

Multiple consecutive failed logins to your PC or server might mean that an attack is undergoing, and BotFence is a handy tool that can help you detect such attempts, protecting your data against bots and hackers.

BotFence provides the means to monitor incoming connections, analyzing any suspicious activity, especially when the traffic is high. It works together with the Windows firewall to ensure protection of your data, but a complete antivirus solution should also be installed on the PC to complete the security shield.
