BMPlayer Description

BMPlayer is a media player designed specifically for helping you watch movies and listen to songs in a clutter-free environment. It can be installed on all Windows versions out there.

Clean and simple design

The GUI looks straightforward and easy to decode so you are not going to spend a lot of time tweaking the dedicated parameters. Clips can be dragged and dropped directly in the main window or imported via the built-in browse button.

Supported file formats and playback capabilities

BMPlayer offers support for a wide range of file formats, such as AVI, ASF, FLAC, FLV, MPG, WMV, MOV, MP3, MP4, FLAC, FLV, WMA, 3GP, OGG.

Basic playback controls are integrated in the GUI for helping you start or stop the current selection, go forward or backward, seek for a position in the video/audio streams, and adjust the volume. You may also switch to a full screen display.

Aside from importing media files from your personal collection, the program allows you to stream data from a custom URL,  gain access to several online shows, and open your webcam or other connected devices.

Other notable configuration settings worth being mentioned enable you to keep a log with details about the playback process and possible errors, copy log data to the clipboard or export it to LOG file format, repeat the current selection, make use of preset hotkeys for faster actions (they cannot be reassigned), as well as choose between different video output modes (e.g. OpenGL, SDL, Direct3D).

Tests have shown that BMPlayer does not load video content very quickly. We have also bumped into several errors that made the app to freeze. It does not eat up a lot of CPU and memory resources so the overall performance of the computer is not affected.

Final remarks

To sum things up, if you are looking for nothing more than an unpretentious media player that comes with support for basic features, you can give BMPlayer a try and see if it meets your requirements.
