bitRipper is a straightforward software solution which converts DVD videos to Audio Video Interleave items (AVI). It can be handled by first-time and advanced users alike.
bitRipper is now free! You can get the serial from here.
The tool is wrapped in a standard and user-friendly interface where you can get started by selecting the DVD source drive.
So, you can use DVD movies from disc or from mounted images. But you cannot load DVD folders from the hard drive, unfortunately. Also, you cannot process multiple DVD clips in a single session.
All you have to do is specify the output directory and filename, in order to proceed with the conversion procedure. During this task, you can select the process priority between high, normal and low, as well as check out a progress bar along with estimated remaining time. Plus, you can pause the task.
Skilled users may access the ‘Settings’ area to configure some settings. Thus, you can copy only the audio or video stream, as well as modify their properties when it comes to the aspect ratio, resolution, audio language, and volume normalization. Moreover, you can use a tool to calculate the bit rate, and make bitRipper eject the DVD, power off the computer or play a sound from file when the task is done.
The DVD video processing app needs a moderate quantity of system resources, has a fair response time and takes a reasonable amount of time to complete a task (depending on the size of the DVD clip). The output AVIs have a good image and sound quality. We have not come across any issues during our evaluation. The interface needs some major improvements from the visual point of view, but we must keep in mind the fact that bitRipper has not been updated for a long time.
