BiblioteQ Description
BiblioteQ is an open-source Windows application whose purpose is to help you catalog books, DVDs, CDs, journals, magazines and video games. It can be used by different organizations, such as libraries, schools or churches.
It offers support for PostgreSQL and SQLite connections and makes use of the SRU and Z39.50 protocols for retrieving information about books, journals and magazines by querying several Internet resources, such as Library of Congress and Columbia University catalogs, as well as Amazon.com.
User-friendly interface
BiblioteQ adopts a clean and well-organized layout where you can connect or disconnect to/from a database, change the password and configure administrative privileges.
The items stored in the database are displayed in the main window with the aid of a table. Additionally, you can make the application display all items, all available items, overdue or reserved items, books, DVDs, journals, magazines, music CDs, photograph collections or video games.

BiblioteQ integrates different parameters for each category where you want to store items in. Most of the features are structured in the GUI in the same way mainly for all categories, such as Book, DVD, Journal, Magazine, Music CD, Photograph Collection and Video Game.
Let’s say you need to add a book into your catalog. The tool lets you accomplish this task by querying several Internet resources. Providing the correct ISBN-10 or ISBN-13 helps you retrieve data about the edition, author(s), title, publication date, publisher, place of publication, categories, price, language, location, condition and other details.
The best part about this process is that you get to download cover images as well, so you can visually identify items in your collection. If errors may appear while grabbing a cover photo, you can opt for manually adding an image from your computer (BMP, JPG, PNG).
Exporting data and managing members
The table that reveals all items embedded in a database can be saved to CSV file format, and you may also delete, modify or duplicate the selected items. Plus, you are given the freedom to switch between a table and icon view mode.
The tool is able to keep track of multiple members and enables you to create a new one by providing details about the ID, date, first and last name, date of birth, street, city, telephone number, email address and expiration date.
The member manager allows you to show the selected member’s reservation history, list a member’s reserved items, print reserved items, grant privileges, and list all overdue items.
Error logs and advanced searches
Errors logs are kept for helping you monitor events and possible errors, while the search function implements advanced parameters for helping you identify items by ID number, title, publication date, publisher, category, price, language or other criteria.
Configuration settings
BiblioteQ lets you enable the automatic saving mode upon closing the program, disable the table grid, pick the number of entries showed per page, select the preferred SRU (CUNY Union Catalog or Library of Congress) and Z39.50 (Columbia University or Library of Congress) site, as well as adjust the global font in terms of font, font style and size.
