The benefits of a portable tool

After the download process, you can unzip the archive and run the executable, as the application does not require installation in order to function, needing only that you keep the configuration XML in the same folder as Baka Encoder.

Because installation is not necessary, you can store and run the program from a portable memory device on all compatible systems, while its removal can be performed through regular deletion, as it does not leave any additional traces in your registry entries.

Load your videos and process them on the go

The interface of Baka Encoder is very basic and straight-forward, making it quite easy to handle even for inexperienced users, thanks to its ‘point and shoot’ method of functioning.

To get started, you can add the files you wish to process, either by drag and dropping the them onto the main window of the utility or by clicking on the ‘Add Video’ button and browsing for them through your computer, then loading them. Subsequently, Baka Encoder will automatically begin processing them.

The ‘Presets’ section allows you to choose the preferred output options, with ‘Preview’, ‘Normal’, ‘Deluxe’ and ‘Express’ to select from. The first two have the characteristic of being suitable for streaming, whereas the other two are not. Hovering with your mouse cursor over each of these presets will display a small tooltip informing you of the ‘Video Quality’, ‘Compression’, ‘Encoding Time’ and ‘Resolution Cap’ corresponding to each one.

Optionally, when the process completes, you can have Baka Encoder play a sound, log off your computer or shut it down; if you do not need any of these, you can simply leave the default option selected, namely ‘Do Nothing’.

To conclude, Baka Encoder is a handy and reliable application which can successfully assist you in encoding your video streams in various qualities, enabling you to further work with your movies however you may need, aiming to replace MeGUI as a more intuitive alternative.
