Axialis IconGenerator Description

Whether you are working on a personal or a company software project, a noticeable icon can be a good way to associate a symbol with the application, the producing company, or your own identity as a developer. However, creating a new icon from scratch can be a pretty tedious job, considering you have to make sure each pixel looks just about perfect. Fortunately, applications such as Axialis IconGenerator can be of help in this regard, allowing you to use a database of icons created by professional designers to generate icons in different formats.

A database of icon sets with different licenses

The icon set database includes various collections you can browse, each with a relevant name for the type of icons it holds. Each icon set has a specific license so you must be careful which one you pick.

Open-source icons can be used in any environment, whereas commercially licensed icons must be purchased to be used without restrictions (see the ‘Limitations’ section for further details).

Make slight changes of color and content to each icon

Each icon in the set has several overlays that can be applied with a click to generate a slightly different design. In addition to this, you can customize the color of the icon as you wish. Not only that a color picker is available, but Axialis IconGenerator also provides a generous array of predefined colors, including famous hues associated with different brands.

Aside from the overlays and colors, there is nothing much you can change about an icon. Unfortunately, there are no drawing tools available, which would allow you to customize an icon even more.

Create an icon collection and export it to vector or bitmap icon formats

Once you decide upon the final version of your new icon, you can add it to your own personal collection. As the collection grows, new items are displayed in the lower side of the window.

Icon collections can be easily exported to various file formats, including vector icon files (SVG, XAML, PS, EPS, or PDF; for the last three, Inkscape is required) and bitmap icon files (BMP, PNG, JPG, ICO, and ICNS). The size is customizable, and so is the output location.

An icon generator, not a designer or an editor

What you should keep in mind is that Axialis IconGenerator is not an icon designer in itself. The name tells it all: it is an icon generator, which does not offer drawing tools for you to customize an icon the way you want. Nevertheless, it can be a time saver if the icon is not your main priority.
