Automesher Description

CAD users who perform their design undertakings with the BricksCAD, ZWCAD or AutoCAD packages, might require a way to easily import and manipulate 3D file formats and convert them accordingly.

Automesher is a CAD extender application that was created in order to provide people with the means to increase their import / export functionality of their CAD suites. It will allow them to import 3D file formats, convert 3D drawing entities and export them to the preferred formats.

The application supports multiple commonly used CAD formats, some of which include: STL (Stereolithography), OFF (Object File Format), OBJ (Alias Wavefront Object), 3DS (3D-Studio File Format), IV (Inventor File), SAT (Standard ACIS Text), PLY (Stanford Polygon Format), VRML (Virtual Reality), 3DM (Rhinoceros 3D Model), etc.

In addition to its import / export capabilities, Automesher also enables one with options for converting drawing meshes (polygon facets and meshes) into 3D solid objects. These transformations are provided  with a bi-directional flow, users being able to revert the process if circumstances require.

Furthermore, alongside its support for polygon meshes, polyface meshes and solid objects, the utility can also handle lines, arcs or circles, with customizable thickness.

Its functionality is deployed using three main commands: the first, “AMIMPORTMESH” (which people can use in order to import the aforementioned formats into the current DWG drawing, and create required lines or polyface meshes), the second, “AMEXPORTMESH” (allows one to export to the preferred format from the inputted polygon meshes, faces or drawn entities).

The third command, “AMCONVERTMESH” (enables users with the ability to transform the polygon meshes into polyface mesh entities, convert their facets or transform them into solid drawings).
