APEv2 Library Description
APEv2 Library is a programming component you can integrate into your freeware applications that specialize in APE audio processing. It can read, write and edit APEv1 and APEv2 tags. Apart from Windows, it offers support for Mac OS X and Android.
It supports full Unicode, binary frames, and ID3v1 tags after the APE tag. All frames can be directly accessed as a TMemoryStream, a class which gives full control of the frame contents. Thanks to the fact that it was completely written in Delphi, it doesn’t require any external components or utilities to work properly.
The downloaded package contains a setup pack that offers to install Easy Update Client, another software tool made by the same developer, which is not actually required in order for the component to work.
There’s also a demo wrapped up in a classical interface, where you can test the tag reader by loading an audio track. The tool reveals the cover art, artist, album, genre, composer, title, track, year, comment and soloists, in addition to the APE tag version and picture description.
Any of these fields can be edited, while new ones can be added by specifying a field type or name. Furthermore, you can add cover art, remove any fields from the tags, and save modifications with one click.
