It is flexible, fast, clean and it is so simple that you can barely call it a syntax are some of the reasons why markdown is so popular among developers.
Abricotine is an application designed to help you open, preview, explore and edit markdown file and export them to a perfectly formatted HTML.
Clean, stylish, but buggy interface and functionality
First off, you should make sure you have Node.js and npm installed on your computer, as otherwise the application cannot run. Upon launch you come face to face with an uncluttered and well-organized interface that consists of a resizable window where you can add or drag and drop your files.
In spite of its appearance, you should know that the application enables you to preview text content as you type it. On the other hand, you cannot preview images, irrespective of whether you insert them from a URL or copy them directly from a local directory.
Speaking of hiccups, the application does not support spell checking and there is no way to activate it, although you have this option in the Edit menu.
Enables you to craft markdown syntax with GFM enhancements
Then again, you should keep in mind that the markdown syntax you are working on can only be exported to HTML format. It would be nice if the program enables you to export to other file formats as well, particularly to CSS.
A markdown editor that could use more work
In its current version, Abricotine enables you to write the syntax and preview only certain parts of it. Therefore, if you are looking for a simple environment to help you work on your markdown, then the app might be the solution you need.
