3DimViewer Description

3DimViewer is a lightweight 3D viewer able to read and display DICOM datasets. It helps you with visualizing 3D images of volumetric data using multiplanar and orthogonal views.

User-friendly layout

The main window looks clean and allows you to analyze medical DICOM datasets in 3D, more specifically the axial (XY), coronal (XZ) and/or sagittal (YZ) plane views. If you are not working with all of the view panels, you may hide them and change their position in the main window.

Importing/exporting data

3DimViewer gives you the possibility to add patient DICOM data from a user-defined folder, import DICOM information from ZIP file format, load VLM files, as well as embed STL models. When it comes to exporting options, you are allowed to export volumetric details to VLM and save STL models and DICOM series.

Density, ortho slices, volume rendering and tissue segmentation

The application helps you alter several parameters related to density, namely center and width, by manually entering the values or automatically finding the optimal ones.

You may modify ortho slices by changing the axial, coronal and sagittal views, volume rendering in terms of quality, brightness, contrast, sharpness and other options, as well as tissue segmentation by adjusting the thresholds.

Filters, models, measurement tools and other features

You can apply Gaussian, median or 3D anisotropic filters, create and reveal surface models, as well as measure density values and distance via plugins. Clearing the measurement results can be accomplished with just one click.

What’s more, you can make use of the DataExpress plugin in order to send loaded DICOM data to people from 3Dim Laboratory. For expanding the overall functionality of the utility, you may install additional plugins.

A few configuration settings

The utility lets you enable the logging mode and view log data revealed in a dedicated panel, pick the background color, pick the saving directory based on the last used path or current project’s path, and opt for single or multi-threaded rendering mode.

Bottom line

All in all, 3DimViewer comes with a decent feature pack for helping you view 3D images of medical DICOM datasets, and can be mastered by all types of users, regardless of their experience level.
